A high-profile delegation from the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists has officially arrived in Uganda ahead of the highly anticipated Converts Convention, scheduled to kick off today, May 16.
The delegation is led by the Adventist World Radio (AWR) President, Pastor Jim Howard, and his wife, Mrs Sonya Howard. They are accompanied by the AWR Vice President, Pastor Justin Ringstaff.
A Warm African Welcome
Upon their arrival, the international church leaders were treated to a vibrant reception reflecting traditional Ugandan hospitality. They were formally received by a delegation of local church leaders, including:



- Pastor and Mrs. Immanuel Ogwal, Director of the Adventist World Radio (AWR) African Region.
- Elder and Mrs. Isaac Kugonza, Communication Director for the Uganda Union Mission.
- An enthusiastic guard of honor composed of SDA Pathfinders.
- Members of the national organizing committee.
Celebrating Africa for Christ
The Converts Convention is designed as a massive celebration of faith, transformation, and discipleship. It serves as the grand culmination of the highly successful Africa for Christ evangelistic campaign.
Thousands of attendees are converging in Uganda, including converts from local radio ministries and recent evangelistic campaigns spanning both Uganda and several selected African nations.
“This convention is more than just a gathering; it is a special celebration of the lives transformed through the power of digital and public evangelism,” remarked organizers ahead of the event.
The presidential visit is packed with strategic engagements aimed at fostering growth and spiritual revival in the region. Over the coming days, Pastor Howard and his team are scheduled to:

- Media Site Visits: Touring various Adventist radio stations to assess the impact of broadcast evangelism.
- Strategic Leadership Meetings: High-level consultations with various administrative leaders of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Uganda to discuss future growth and mission alignment.
