PICTORIAL: Uganda Union launches centennial youth camporee, Leadership urges early registration

The Uganda Union Youth Ministries has officially set the wheels in motion for a historic gathering. On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the Kampala Central SDA Church, leadership officially launched the upcoming Uganda Union Centennial Youth Camporee.

This landmark event, themed “Mission Possible: A Century of Faith,” celebrates an incredible 100-year legacy of the Adventist faith in the country. The grand camporee is slated to take place at Nchwanga, where the SDA story started in the country.

Defeating the “Late Registration” Culture

While the atmosphere at the Kampala Central SDA Church was filled with excitement, the leadership used the platform to address a critical logistical hurdle that often affects large-scale events: delayed registration.

Speaking at the launch, Pastor Samuel Mwebaze, Vice President of the Uganda Union Mission, issued a strong yet passionate challenge to the youth and church members across the union.

“I want to challenge you that we have a challenge of responding to events late. We need to fight the challenge of late registration,” Elder Mwebaze urged.

“I want to pray with you and beseech you members to let’s pay for the registration as early as possible so that we help the organisation team to have a smooth process.”

The Vice President emphasised that accurate, early numbers are vital for the organising committee to plan adequately and deliver a high-quality experience worthy of a centenary milestone.

“We have to confirm the number of participants so that we can work on the needed items so that we have a wonderful event of celebrating 100 years of Faith,” Mwebaze added.

Leadership Confirmed

To ensure the spiritual and logistical success of the camp, the leadership structure is already taking shape. Esther Waiswa, the Uganda Union Youth Leader, officially confirmed during the launch that the massive camporee will be led by Jimmy Muhindo, who will oversee the coordination and execution of the camp’s various programs.

With the official launch now complete, youth leaders, pathfinders, adventurers, and senior youth from all conferences and fields under the Uganda Union are expected to mobilise immediately.

Registration channels are already open, and as the Vice President noted, the time to act is now to make this Century of Faith celebration truly unforgettable.
