HIGHLIGHT: The Bible is living and powerful, and reading it is foundational to growing our relationship with God. Not only does it teach us about God’s wonderful character and His interactions with humanity throughout earth’s history-it also speaks to each of us today when we come to it in humility.
Memory Text: Hebrews 4:12 NKJV
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
SABBATH; INTRODUCTION
This week’s lesson study invites you to move beyond owning a Bible to truly encountering it. The Bible is the most published, most preserved, and most powerful book in history—but where does it live in your life?
Hebrews 4:12 declares that God’s Word is living, powerful, and able to discern the deepest thoughts of the heart. Far more than ancient stories or academic texts, Scripture reveals a living God who longs for a relationship with you. Discover how daily time in God’s Word can encourage, challenge, guide, and transform your life—and why opening the Bible may be the most important decision you make today.

SUNDAY; THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON
Satan, upon knowing that prayer and bible study are the most powerful weapons against his attacks, he never ceases to stop us from spending time with God. He uses means such as business, tiredness and doubt to achieve his goal. Keeping us away from our Bibles fractures our relationship with God and with others. Closeness with God is strengthened only by frequent communion with Him through His word and it is a call upon us to be intentional with making time for God and His word in our lives because God gives us a chance to do so every day by His great mercies.

MONDAY; SCRIPTURE, THE AUTHORITY
The Bible-the Word of God is given by inspiration of God. It guides us in finding and understanding truth. It makes us aware of the errors we have committed both in doctrine and our life’s behaviour. It helps us to make right our course and gives us the right direction to take. It also leads us to repentance and obedience through the Holy spirit.
The Bible is not to be subjected to our personal opinions. Rather, our personal opinions should be subjected to the Word of God. Hence, we should approach the Bible with an open mind and spirit ready to receive and embrace all words there in and not only select the parts of Scripture that we only find comfortable, trusting that God will reveal to us the passages that we don’t understand.

TUESDAY; BIBLE TRUTH
In a decaying world where truth is only an idea and is not upheld, the Bible points us to truth who is Jesus Christ. God’s word testifies about Jesus Christ as The Truth who does not change. In the same line, God never lies and neither does His word. The Word of the Lord is pure, right and all His works are done in Truth, therefore, we should accept the Bible as it is. The Bible is the greater light and the Only foundational Source of what we understand as Truth. All sources, including reason, must be tested by the Word of God and the more we read God’s word, the more our understanding of His truth will grow.

WEDNESDAY; BIBLE CLAIMS
The Bible is the only book whose words can speak life into your soul. Just like a hungry person looks for food and water, the soul that is empty and hungry should open the living word of God for nourishment and transformation. The Bible contains words from God that bring life into the heart of a person who feels hopeless and heart-broken. It is the person who seeks God, and prayerfully reads His word with an open heart, who will benefit of the precious promises fulfilled in his life.

THURSDAY; STATE OF THE HEART
God wants us to be wise. He wants us to have spiritual understanding. So, we must open our minds and hearts when we come to Him. Then He can teach us what the Bible says. If we aren’t willing to learn, we won’t have a good experience reading the Bible. Or, if we think the Bible is silly, we won’t look for truth in its pages. God works in us when we believe. The Bible tells us the truth about our lives and our relationship with God. The Bible tells us how to make our relationship with God grow strong. So, we have to empty our hearts of all pride. We should let the Holy Spirit fill our hearts. When we do, we will always come away changed as we read the Bible.

FRIDAY; FURTHER THOUGHT
According to Matthew 12:34, when we have junk in our hearts, it comes out in our words. Similarly, when our hearts are bursting with love for someone, it flows through our words as well. God also speaks His heart unto us through His word-the Bible. The Bible is not only a book of instruction in moral upstanding, it is also the living word of God which is our life and it is to mould our thoughts, our words and our actions. It should not be held any less than this. And not upholding the Bible to such a standard is rejecting it and its authority, which is the leading cause of sin among the youth.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS;
- How wishy-washy or inconsistent are you in your devotional life? What should your answer tell you about making some changes, if needed?
- What struggles in your life now does the Bible address? Why must you not let self stop you from following what it says to you?
- What is the state of my heart and mind as I approach the Bible? Am I bringing my opinions to the Bible with the goal of trying to justify them, or am I coming with an open mind and heart, ready with childlike faith to see what God wants to tell me today? Why is that answer so important?
- What are all the logical and rational reasons you have for your faith? Probably a whole lot more than you realise.
- If someone wanted to deepen their relationship with God, where would you advise them to start reading?
