In a move to strengthen administrative structures and advance the gospel mission, the Executive Committee of the Uganda Union Mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church has officially filled two high-level leadership vacancies.
The decisions were finalised during an Executive Committee sitting held on March 12, 2026, following recommendations from the Nominating Committee.
The Office of the Assistant to the President of the Uganda Union Mission has been filled by Pr. Samuel Mwebaza.
This position recently became vacant following the transition of Pr. David Simwogerere, who moved on to serve as the President of the Central Uganda Conference (CUC).
Pr. Mwebaza’s appointment is expected to provide critical support to the Union’s presidency as it oversees the church’s expanding work across the country.
The committee also addressed the leadership of the Western Uganda Field. Following the withdrawal of Pr. William Bagambe from the office, the Executive Committee voted Pr. Anatole Mugenyi to serve as the new President of the Western Uganda Field.
Pr. Mugenyi steps into this role at a time when the church is focused on deepening its community impact and ministry reach in the western region.
In a statement issued by the Communication Department, the Uganda Union Mission leadership expressed full confidence in the newly elected leaders.
”The leadership congratulates the elected leaders and expresses confidence in their commitment to serve the Church faithfully and advance the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.”
These appointments reflect the Church’s ongoing commitment to robust leadership and the continuous strengthening of ministry structures to better serve its members and the wider Ugandan community.
