Scripture Reading:
“She said to herself, ‘If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.'” — Matthew 9:21
The Reflection
Most of us start our mornings with a to-do list, but how often do we start with a to-reach list?
The woman with the issue of blood had spent twelve years in a cycle of suffering, isolation, and disappointment. By the law of her time, she was unclean.
She wasn’t supposed to be in the crowd, let alone touching a teacher. She had every reason to stay home, defeated by her history.
But faith isn’t the absence of obstacles; it’s the audacity to move through them.
She didn’t demand a long conversation or a public ceremony. She didn’t even wait for Jesus to look her way. Her faith was so concentrated that she believed even the fringe of His garment, the very edge of His presence was more powerful than her decade of pain.
Key Lessons for Today:
- Faith Over Fatigue: She was likely physically exhausted, but her spirit was relentless. Don’t let your tiredness dictate your trust.
- The Power of If Only: She replaced her What if it fails? with If only I touch Him. Your internal monologue determines your external movement.
- Personal Connection: The crowd was pressing against Jesus, but only one person touched Him with expectation. Being near God isn’t the same as reaching for Him.
A Prayer for Your Morning
Heavenly Father, today I step out of my past disappointments and into Your presence. I’m tired of trying to fix things on my own strength. Like the woman in the crowd, I am reaching out for You. I believe that one moment of connection with You is enough to change the trajectory of my day. Give me the courage to push through the noise of my worries and find my peace in You. Amen.
Moving Into Your Day
As you head into your morning, identify one crowd (a fear, a busy schedule, or a doubt) that is trying to keep you from reaching God. Remind yourself that His power is not depleted, and He is well within your reach.
