Key Thought:
We are recipients of grace, yet often reluctant distributors of the same grace.
Today’s Scriptures
Romans 3:23–24
- “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
James 2:10
- “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.”
John 8:7
- “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone…”
Ephesians 2:8–9
- “For by grace you have been saved through faith… it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.”
Reflection
A cross congregations, cultures, and communities, a quiet contradiction exists. The Church called to reflect Christ’s mercy sometimes reflects human judgment instead.
Not always loudly. Not always deliberately. But consistently.
We are people who sing about grace, preach about grace, and depend on grace—yet struggle to extend it. We classify sins. We rank failures. We create categories of “acceptable” and “unacceptable,” forgetting that sin, in any form, separates humanity from God.
The truth is humbling: There is no greater sinner or lesser sinner at the foot of the cross.
When the crowd stood ready to condemn the woman in John 8, Jesus did not deny her sin but He challenged their self-righteousness. One by one, they dropped their stones. Why? Because grace exposes not just the sin of others but our own.
Grace is not permission to sin, it is the power to restore and if God has extended grace to us freely, how can we withhold it from others?
Heart Check
- Do I judge sins differently based on visibility or personal bias?
- Have I received grace but failed to extend it?
- Is my attitude drawing people closer to Christ or pushing them away?
Today’s Challenge
Choose one person today—especially someone you may have judged—and show them intentional grace:
- Speak kindly
- Listen without condemning
- Encourage instead of criticizing
- Be a reflection of Christ, not a gatekeeper of condemnation.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your amazing grace that saved me when I was undeserving. Forgive me for the times I have judged others while ignoring my own need for mercy. Soften my heart. Help me to see people the way You see them not as categories of sin, but as souls in need of redemption. Teach me to extend grace freely, just as You have given it to me. Let my life reflect Your love, not human judgment. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Closing Thought
“Grace received must become grace released.”
